The rest of the night is a bit of a let down but you have to suffer it just for my sense of wanting to finish the story.
We still hadn't found anywhere to sit, Mr K was determined that we would have to stand but I was starving. I wanted my picnic and I wanted to eat it sitting down. I also wanted to rest. I wandered the crowd for a while and eventually found a poorly located handkerchief. It was miles from the stage and the screen was obscured by a tree but I could park my bum and that was enough. I called my mob and told them to sit. I suspect that they felt as though I had led them from one bad situation to another but they sat and we ate. Cool.
Soon the other bad aspect of the location became apparent, the queue for the toilets snaked past us. Right in front. It was hard to soak up the music when it felt like we were spending the night outside the ladies.
After some time some people nearby packed up and left so we quickly snaffled the spot. The party was heating up, the music was great ( Latin style from the Spanish Harlem Orchestra) people were dancing, my belly was full. It was also ten pm, the kids were exhausted and our fearless leader decided it was time to go.
I walked very slowly through the crowd, trying to hear every bar that I could.
The trip home was, again, train and bus.The connections were fast and the trip problem free and my girls were fascinated that I was tucking them in when it was already Sunday :)
Wow - it seems like you had an interesting, but exhausting day! And to camp outside the ladies to eat and listen to the music? Oh dear, I hope there weren't any smells.....
ReplyDeleteGlad it went well though!
Take care,
Peter
we weren't too close to the ladies....it was a VERY long queue
ReplyDeleteheheh - I suppose there are always long queues at these events!

Frankly, I can't believe any of you had the energy to go through all of that! The music must have been terrific to endure such and exhausting day. You are an amazing woman. Thanks for sharing your day with us. I really enjoyed reading about it. I'm exhausted...can you tuck me in too?! I need a nap after that!

G'day Kylie,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing :) It reminds me of concerts we went to at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl. Darn it now I'll have to take a photo of it for our American pals.
. . . I wonder if there is an image on Google?
Mark.
for sure there will be, mark
ReplyDeleteto suze,
ReplyDeleteoh dear, i think i'm leaving my replies all over the place....not too methodical
what i forgot to say was about the vegan thing...it IS possible to make your own cheese from your very loved animals but i think it becomes a VERY big job. can you find a boutique cheesemaker who loves their sheep/cows/goats and then buy from them ?
veganism is soo demanding...you're a more dedicated individual than i am and i'll take my hat off to that
:)
I'm laughing because it's late, yet here I sit blogging! This stuff is too amazing! Like you I feel a little scattered and know I've missed some things. I'm confident I haven't replied to everyone and I'm confident I haven't found all the replies to me, but the joy I feel trying to play catch-up and the reasearch that goes into finding everything is just too much fun!
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree, finding a boutique cheese maker is the answer. I've already looked into it. Thanks for reminding me to take an easier path! I'm making plans to become a Vegan, but technically I don't think I can if I eat cheese. It's like saying your a vegetarian, but still eat fish and poultry. Ya know what I mean? I've concluded, that even if I'm not a "real" Vegan, I'm close enough because I would never hurt an animal. I think that has always been my ultimate goal. I currently only eat organic cheese because I feel organic farmers are kinder and more sensitive. I hope that's true.
Thanks for your thoughts and time. It's always wonderful to talk to you. And thanks for tipping your hat. Right back at ya!
Love, Suze
