Not New Years Resolutions

Over the last couple of days I have read any number of pieces about New Year.
I can't remember the sources and have no intention of backtracking to find them but I want to paraphrase my favourite comments.
One said simply that we should think of goals rather than resolutions and I agree...a broken resolution is quickly discarded but a goal allows us to fall off the wagon and then resume the quest.
The other said that resolutions are based in guilt. It said something along the lines that if we vow to become kinder, were we unkind to begin with? The writer finished by saying that he intended to do the same in 2008 as he did in 2007.
If you're happy with who you are and what you do New Year shouldn't require a list of resolutions, so I liked his comments. Having said that, I guess it is a good time to reflect on new or changing goals.
I have been thinking of a couple of things I might change so even though I'm not so resolute I'll put them here for posterity and my readers (are you there?) can keep me accountable....or I'll delete the post and forget it :)
  • I hope to buy fair trade coffee more often than not
  • same with chocolate
  • It would be good eat vegetarian one day a week

I also hope to add labels to my posts....I didn't think it was important but I have realised how helpful they are to new readers, so I might make a start in anticipation of becoming a world famous blogger with thousands of new readers :)
