He organised a party for himself: he invited about15 mates to hang out at the park today. I promised to provide sausage sandwiches and a cake
Then the rain started.
It rained on Thursday.
It rained more on Friday.
Even if the rain stopped the park would resemble a lake.
A change of venue was in order.
Our place.
What do you do with a dozen 12 year old boys when it's raining?
Well, as it turns out, only five have turned up, with another 2 on the way (they're an hour and a half late so I wasn't expecting more but no mind)
We started with drinks
They're watching The Simpsons Movie as I write
And eating lolly kebabs
When the movie is over I'll give 'em all a hot dog
And a piece of donut cake
Hi Kylie!
ReplyDeleteSounds like things went well then. You'll have to share the secret of the lolly kebob, I've never seen one of those before. Now donuts are great, and a whole cake built out of 'em has got to wonderful.
Best B-day wishes and many happy returns,
Skeeter
hey skeeter,
ReplyDeleteit did, indeed, go much better than i expected. we ended up with our own 4 kids and ten more, which is an awful lot for the house but they were all well behaved and it was good.
theres no secret to lollies on a stick, just choose things that have nice colours and make sure the skewers are wet.
you probably have different stuff in the US but i used marshmallows, jubes, liquorice allsorts and jersey caramels. it seems the caramels are not so popular with the kids, a lot ended up in the rubbish.
the lady who taught me to make these serves them with chocolate topping, i think that's a good idea but today it would have been courting disaster :)
cheers
k
Hi Kylie,
ReplyDeleteEverything looks really yummy!!!
Will have to try and make the lolly kebob, the gkids will love them. The Donut cake is Cool!
Happy Birthday to Dimples!!!
Will try to stop back later and catch up...
xoxo
mmmm..... donuts
ReplyDeletemmmm..... cake
Donuts AND cake.... priceless.
How positively clever -- lolly kebobs and a donut cake. Never seen such a thing! : ) Looks like a "sweet" way to celebrate the last leg of childhood. My Lydia turns 13 this month. An over-nighter to San Diego to visit her sis at university should welcome her to the teen years in style. (Of course, I shall be joining her so she won't have THAT much fun!) : )
ReplyDeletehi gig,
ReplyDeleteit's good to see you here , i hope you're doing well.
i'd say the g'kids should love the lolly kebobs they're good value because they're fun to make then you get to eat 'em :)
take care

ReplyDeletethe donut cake is a new product at the local donut place and i think i've found my new fetish.
