Post Christmas torpor

My vegan meal went down a treat with the grown ups, the kids thought they were in a gulag and someone on facebook called it sad. Oh well, if I'm gonna put it up to be judged by strangers, I have to expect strange judgements.

Harry had a moment of great excitement when we came home from somewhere or other and tore his dew claw off. He has decided that bed is a great place to recover and just how does he know that pillows are for putting one's head on?

  1. Your vegan meal looks delectable. Which probably makes me a grown-up.
At least Harry has his head on the pillow. Jazz likes to rest his date on mine.

    1. The pineapples are too heavy and pull the spoons out of the food but they do look fabulous!

  3. It all looks healthy. Since I am not vegan or vegetarian, I would miss the turkey on Christmas. How could anyone call that sad? Kids! Their ideas would not include vegetables at all. They would gladly eat cookies and pies and call it good.

My friend did not allow his dog on the bed. And, the dog never got on the bed. One day, my friend left the motor running while he ran back into the house for a forgotten item. There was the dog on his bed with his head on his pillow! They know. They watch.

    1. we had traditional Christmas food on Christmas day and this was boxing day.
Harry hasn't been allowed on beds due to him being a dog and his issues with aggression but the aggression seems to be gone and he thinks he should be on beds, it's a greyhound thing

  5. I could eat that meal as long as I was able to get to the chop house before closing.

  6. That spread looks very tempting. Dogs do know how to use pillows. Chutki does that all the time, if needed by pulling the pillow or cushion to her exact position.

  7. Our Christmas Day meal was a chestnut lasagna with roast vegetables, brussel sprouts and mushroom gravy. Totally delicious. Who needs turkey? Your vegan meal looks wonderful to me. Take no notice of the nay-sayers.

  8. G'day Kylie, just dropping in to thank you for your kind remarks on JG's blog.
I am almost used to having a real live son in my life, and I can tell you I love it... and him, of course.
I am going to try to start up a blog in the New Year (next week?) So emailed him to ask if it was okay to use his name and photo. He replied instantly that I could post whatever I wanted because he trusts me. How can you not love a man like that?

    1. I'm so happy for you! I can't imagine the ongoing grief of giving up a child and I take my hat off to anyone who has made that decision in the interests of the child.

If you start a blog, I look forward to reading it :)

  10. Poor harry; that must have been very painful. I'm glad you are accommodating the recuperating patient's comfort!

One of our cats likes to use a cushion as a pillow also. And why not, right?

Your buffet looks wonderful! I wish I could reach into the screen and taste it all. Instead, I am eating chocolate and potato chips. Not very healthy at all!

  11. You're a vegan--I didn't know. I suppose the person who called your lovely meal (and lovely it was even if it didn't meet some people's appraisal of what tastes good) sad was suffering from a bad case of immaturity, but I would still find the public trashing hard to forgive. In fact, I wouldn't forgive it unless the person apologized. So needless a wound, and for what--because you try to live in accord with what you say you believe regarding justice and compassion. What treachery, what narrow-mindedness! I doubt that you are even able to hate someone, but I will do it for you. Hatred seems to come easier for me everyday. It's not entirely an excuse when I say that the first year of Trump has put Americans at one another's throats, and made keeping an open heart harder than it used to be.

    1. You figured out that I'm not vegan but I am trying to head that way. I do believe it is better for the planet and the animals and more plant foods are good for health, too.
The person who called the food was some stranger on a vegan facebook group and these comitted vegans take quite a bit more trouble over food than I have here so I understand the sentiment but I agree that it was uncalled for. He probably has a micropenis.
You have an open heart but you also don't suffer fools gladly. It's a good combination. There is a book doing the rounds right now called "The subtle art of not giving a f**k. You don't need to read it because you have figured it out
