Things I get sick of....

Things I am actually sick to death of:

  • waiting hours for the bathroom every. damned. night
  • grumpy people
  • answering a thousand questions that would answer themselves with a little bit of "watch and wait"
  • people drinking coffee in church
  • kids sitting on the altar in church
  • having to go get glasses to read anything
  • people laughing at me because i end up just not reading some things
  • dishes
  • whole loads of socks and underwear, making 2375 items to be hung out at once
  • waiting for the bathroom
  • when my menu needs to be subtly changed every single day like when i plan on potato salad but someone wants mash or i plan on broccoli but someone wants zucchini
  • towels. towels that need to be washed, towels that were washed, towels that nobody knows if they are clean, towels that were used for one swim and then left around adding to the towel problem
  • people who get antsy when i try to help them
  • no hand rail on the steps so i struggle to get in and out of my own house
  • the dishwasher door that falls off every time it's opened
when i started this blog ten-ish years ago i determined that it would be a positive space but you can have too much of anything.......

  1. I can sympathise with a lot of those. Especially grumpy people. It doesn't take much to be cheerful rather than grumpy (unless something totally calamitous has happened). And if they're grumpy to me, they're presumably grumpy to everyone else, doing their best to spread misery everywhere they go.

You need to find the cash to get that much-needed hand rail....

  2. I would be grumpy with no hand rails when I fell down or up the steps! How many people are sharing one bathroom?

For many years, people could tolerate being hydrated or caffeinated for long enough to attend church. What happened?

I only need reading glasses, so I can not wear them for distance viewing. I wear them all day. Can you just not wear them all the time?

A person cannot be positive all the time, especially if others are involved. There is nothing wrong with grumpy.

Laughing here...are you the only person in your house who knows how to use the washing machine? I would get sick of so many socks and towels.

    1. Six people sharing a bathroom here, three of whom have to shower last thing at night. Last night I actually managed to think about telling one to get in there but I was just a smidge late and there was still a queue.
The coffee in church peeves me so much and i don't know why. I can almost tolerate the baseball caps and bare feet.
To be fair, I don't end up with the washing every time, just yesterday when i was already annoyed

  3. I can understand your frustration. I reminded me, however, how thankful I am that I live alone (and have done for 17 years without a moments regret). Even though I often have friends as house guests I can chose them! I got over the spectacles/glasses problem (which seems to be a bugbear for many friends) by wearing varifocals and never taking them off (well not if I need to see).

    1. This is my first pair of glasses and they gave me what they said I needed. Maybe next time I can get something else

  4. Sigh. Familiar to many of us. Including me. And I will add one which peeves me to the max. People looking with their mouths rather than their eyes as in 'where is my...?'

    1. PS: I have to put my glasses on to read anything too. And tried multi-focals and spent days and weeks feeling nauseous before I gave up.

    2. We don't know how many times we read things until we need glasses to do so!

People looking with their mouths is a funny saying! When people here are looking for things I ask where they last had it, which I mostly found helpful when my mum asked but this lot just get irritated and say if they could remember that, the thing wouldn't be lost :)

  5. Whoa! That's spooky! Your list of things that make you grumpy is more or less exactly the same as Donald J. Trump's list - except he also included:-
    Melania
    Kim jong-Un
and boring presidential duties such as reading briefing notes and singing the national anthem.

    1. Life does go on, so long as one is not crossing one's legs outside the bathroom cos that's no life!

  8. It's good that you let your grumps out because then we feel we have a chance to do the same :)

I don't like people drinking coffee ANYWHERE. The smell permeates everything! It seems that coffee drinking has become a status symbol or a crutch or something ...?

The next time you have to change your meal plan, make a deal that the person who requested it must make the next similar meal in return (eg if it's for supper, then they must make a supper meal). Or would that make more mess in the kitchen that it's worth? :)

    1. I love my coffee but our use of it seems to have become more than dysfunctional!
I could do a meal swap deal, we'd probably eat better :)

  9. I was laughing at your grumpy list in consolidation! The things that irk you are similar to many of the things that irk me. Today TheHub was looking for leftover ziti, which I had said was on the 3rd shelf right at the front of the fridge in a chicken salad plastic container (yes, I reuse containers). He walked to the refrigerator, opened the door and declared it was not there. Miraculously the minute I opened the door the wayward ziti had returned to its spot on the front of the 3rd shelf.

  13. Positive is good. Positive can be a lifesaver sometimes, but only if it's real. Real life, real feeling is a mixed bag if we're honest, and sometimes you just have to tell it like it is, regardless - nothing wrong with that! In fact in doing so, sometimes you reach out to others who might also be struggling, and remind them in some small way that they may not be alone. Good for you, I say, for getting that off your chest. There can't be many off us who don't relate! Meanwhile, can you sort yourself out a handrail if you need one? You're surely worth it - no-one deserves to struggle getting in and out of home!
