  2. I like this plain typeface in red:
*un-pick* like *22* is just right.

Sewing as a theme reminds me of the Daniel Day-Lewis film, The Phantom Thread.
My Irish grandmother was a seamstress and made my mother's clothes.
She had glaucoma and died when I was about three.
Her Singer sewing machine is an iconic subject for poetry like yours.

I recommend ... *The Pocket - A Hidden History of Women's Lives* by Barbara Burman and Ariane Fennetaux (2020) published by Yale.

    1. My mother who is a new Zealander of Irish descent sewed, never as her work, but did everything: my wedding dress, upholstery, kids clothes, her clothes, uniforms .... this should be another post, wait for it!
I saw a Singer sewing table for sale for $80 last week, it's worth more like $500 in good condition (as it was)
Could I get there to get it, I would have snapped it up, beautiful things they are.

    2. A New Zealander of Irish descent: Now that is Mother Courage!
I do like NZ writers: Janet Frame, Maurice Gee, James K Baxter.
There is a YouTube video on Frank Sargeson (Perfectly Frank) and I feel I know that suburb of his, Takapuna.
Same with the Dunedin home (now Visitor Centre) of James Baxter: I have his pictorial biography: you can see him as a postman, before he grew the beard.

Sorry you couldn't get the Singer: I hope another will turn up again.
I started my career as a journalist in Clydebank: The Singer factory had closed down a year or two before.
Our newspaper was across the road from the entrance to Upper Clyde Shipbuilders.
All heavy industry is gone now, but the lovely library is still there.
Inside its Victorian exterior I discovered Frank Sargeson's stories.

  4. I do enjoy your poems. And, like www, wonder what you have been making or whether it is a metaphor for life.
