death comes to us all

my legacy made or lost

by the way I live

  1. Do any of us leave a legacy lasting, oh say, one or two generations? I was thinking who will remember my dear mother when I die? And her charm and her kindness... We are but a brief light.

    1. Yes. I started this one thinking of covid deaths and how the only difference between a tragic death and a merciful one is timing

  2. Your words reminded me of Donne's:

    Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
    Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so -

    Then Donne says that death is a *slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men/And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell.*

    1. Great verses. I think I studied Donne briefly in early high school, my teacher couldn't tell the difference between me and the friend I sat next to
