Poem 31

Sleepy eyes closing

Thinking of tomorrows tasks,

I must remember

  1. I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
    John 9: 4

A woman's work is never done. A mother thinks of all she must do, even as she falls asleep. *I must remember.*
There is also our work for the Kingdom. In his book on the prophet Elijah, Arthur W Pink writes:

*God leaves His people here to witness for Christ, and the only way to do that is to walk with Christ. Thus we are bidden to go forth therefore unto Him without the camp, bearing His reproach (Hebrews 13:13). We cannot walk with Christ except we be where His Spirit is - outside the apostate mass, apart from all that dishonours and disowns the Lord Jesus; and that inevitably involves bearing his reproach.*
Pages 298-299 Banner of Truth edition.

When people say they do not believe in God, all they mean is that inside the apostate mass they do not hear His voice.
    How could they?
Inside the culture God is hated.
They need to go outside the camp (outside the culture) bearing Christ's reproach.
This they are not willing to do.
We love Vanity Fair too much.

    1. Working for the church as I do, all my work is for the Kingdom, though I could probably do more in my own time....

I once watched a TV show about some people who went to stay at an abbey in silent retreat. They made no statement of faith but I believe they had all heard God by the time they left

    2. Silent retreats, *Be still and know I am God* benefit the faithful as well as atheists and agnostics.
If not for the Holy Spirit, I would be a One World Religion, New Age person.
I would be saying, *These street preachers are quite mad, avoid the silly sods at all costs and they will shut up.*
Cracks in my unbelief began with reading John Wesley's Journal, and the hymns of his brother Charles.
A stranger in a used bookstore saw me standing at the theology section and suggested I read the Puritans like John Owen. I never saw that man again but I owe him everything.
It was he who recommended Martyn Lloyd-Jones and Arthur Pink.

  2. I hope that remembering doesn't disturb your well earned slumbers.

    1. Thank you, Anne.
I'm lucky to comment most places once a week so I know that daily posts come up too often to always comment

  4. No chance. Anything I might have remembered will have been written down. If I didn't write it down it's pointless thinking about it.

    1. I write down the important things but sometimes there's a lot of small stuff floating in my brain
