I have spent most of this year in survival mode, just dealing with the most immediate issues and a lot of things have been put on the back burner. After I finished full time work, I had enough time and mental energy to book a council clean-up, otherwise known as hard waste pick-up or bulky goods collection. This afternoon Briony took a number of things down to the street ready for pick up on Monday and tomorrow we might find some more waste to get rid of.
There is an e-waste drop off day on August 10th so I'm looking round the house trying to figure out what e-waste I can take.
Being an old dog, Milly was sometimes prone to slipping on our hard floors so she spent most of her time on the two rugs we have in the lounge room. The rugs have been sorely in need of a clean but I couldn't take them away from the old girl so now that she's not in need of them, the rugs have been taken away for a freshen up and today I mopped the entire floor, including the part under the rugs which I usually can't get to.
I have also made enquiries about spending a few days away from home next weekend. My to-do list is as long as my arm, or maybe even my leg, but I just want to have a few days to not think about work, Dad's will, Mum's care needs or looking after my own house or my parent's now vacant home.
I'm seeing my way clear to cooking more often than I have in months and Keaghan seems to have become the self appointed dish washer/ laundry assistant so with that being largely taken care of I'm even branching out and thinking of extra little tasks to help me feel like there's less clutter and more clean.
Well done you on the cleanout. I do remember all of Ansa's rugs as she was aging out and all the floors were wood. All her bits (toys and beds and bowls and leashes) my daughter took care of as I just couldn't.
ReplyDeleteBut you have a pile on your plate. So happy for you you are getting away from it all for a while.

I've put most of Milly's things away but they are still here. When its time, I will do it easily but its not time. Isn't it funny how we are all different?
DeleteI'm generally feeling the pressure to reduce my stuff and keep life simple. My daughter would probably say im controlling what I can control.
Yes, do take a break. It will restore your mental energy and give you clarity of thought.

ReplyDeleteThe vacant house - have you informed the house insurance people?
