I spent the afternoon at the park today. My girls were playing soccer with some friends and I kept Harry company.
There was a group having a birthday party and eventually one little boy wandered over, standing at a distance
"Do you want to say hello to Harry?"
"He's a dangerous dog"
slowly he edged closer and some very quick pats turned into longer ones
"I'm taller than him"
"How old is he?" (five)
"He will be a very big dog when he grows up"
"I like his big toof"
"Come and see him, he's not dangerous, he's soft"
The little girls wanted selfies with him, one tied a ribbon around his tail and one resisted all of her mother's attempts to head towards home. I think I ended up with about six kids around me and they were all patting Harry.
My girls will turn twenty on Tuesday so we ended the day with caramel mudcake. You really can't get better than that
No, you cannot.
ReplyDeleteIt is amusing that the child thought Harry was a puppy because he was five.
ReplyDeleteYes! I suspect they hadn't been exposed to a whole lot of dogs
DeleteOh, how I love that last shot, kylie. It makes me weepy, I like it so much. It feels like I'm inside Harry's mind.
ReplyDeleteA very happy birthday to your girls! I've never had caramel mudcake but it sounds delicious and I assume it is, since it's the birthday treat of choice :) And a happy birth day to you. Did you know you were having twins before they arrived?
Their ears are very expressive!
DeleteI did know I was having twins. I was nine weeks when we found out through an early ultrasound and I'll never forget it. MY legs were shaking so m uch I could barely walk
I meant to say, mud cake is just a very dense, moist cake. They originally came in chocolate flavour and now there is caramel and white chocolate as well
DeleteYes, I can well imagine how immense a surprise it must have been!
DeleteA girl I went to high school with became a doctor, married another doctor, and went on to have twins, and no one knew until delivery. Apparently one twin hid behind the other during the ultrasound!
it's hard to get your head around when you have 7 months to think, let alone roll up at hospital and take two babies home!
DeleteThat sounds like a wonderful, wonderful day. For every one. Including poor maligned Harry.
ReplyDeletePoor Harry had such a good time he was almost too exhausted for bim raiding
DeleteAlmost too exhausted to bin raid? That is serious.
DeleteHappy birthday to your girls. Caramel mudcake sounds like a perfect way to celebrate!
ReplyDeleteHarry seemed very popular.
Somehow I get the feeling these birthday celebrations will be extensive!
DeleteHappy Birthday to your daughters. Caramel anything is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYou really can't beat it! and where did twenty years go?
DeleteWhat happened to Harry?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what you mean by what happened to him so forgive me if I misinterpret He's my son's ex-racing greyhound but i think he's mine.
DeleteWhile we had cake he tried to steal it, the rest of the time he just watched and sniffed around
Harry doesn't look very dangerous to me. He looks like a sweetie.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever had a caramel cake, mudcake or otherwise. It sounds delicious.
He is a total sweetie unless you get near his bone!
DeleteYou need to try caramel cake or you're missing out
Somebody was very happy to be taller than someone, anyone.
ReplyDeleteYes, and older!
DeleteI just love that last photo! Kids and dogs are a natural mix, I think. This post made me smile. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you smiled but then, I smile every time I see those ears!
