Finger Lime

We are coming toward the end of summer but there could still be some hot weather coming so I have a few weeks before it will be prime time to replace my poor dead tree.

When the time comes, I want to be ready. A finger lime sounds attractive. Little pink bubbles of lime on cakes and in drinks is such a nice idea.

The trees can grow tall so it would need trimming on occasion:

Maybe I should stick with a garden classic like a bottlebrush:

Or prune a large chunk off the frangipani I have and strike it to make an instant mini-tree:

I can see that I will spend the next few weeks wanting to plant ever conceivable tree on my little patch.

  1. Hopefully blogger has relented and will allow me to comment this morning.
I love all three of your thoughts - but would lean towards the finger limes. Which is greed talking.

    1. Yes, I really want a finger lime though it's probably not the most sensible choice

  2. I would want the finger limes. I am only planting trees that produce something edible now.

    1. There are probably other food trees that would produce more food, finger lime is mostly a garnish but they are so pretty!

  5. We do not have finger lime here but, bottle brush and frangipani are quite common. We have two of the latter in our garden and I love the flowers.

    1. I have a pink flowering frangipani, grown from a cutting we took many years ago. It's looking really good right now with new leaves.
Somehow, I never imagined I would ever say I had trees I planted 20 years ago but we've been here 25 years now

    1. Bottlebrush is widely used as a street tree. They can be subtle or showy, depending on the variety

  8. Most people want to plant in the spring, but that is not the best season for planting. Fall is best as you know. I vote for the finger lime, something I have never heard of before.

    1. Finger limes are native to an area several hundred km north of me and have only recently been cultivated so I haven't seen them before
