We are coming toward the end of summer but there could still be some hot weather coming so I have a few weeks before it will be prime time to replace my poor dead tree.
When the time comes, I want to be ready. A finger lime sounds attractive. Little pink bubbles of lime on cakes and in drinks is such a nice idea.
Maybe I should stick with a garden classic like a bottlebrush:
Or prune a large chunk off the frangipani I have and strike it to make an instant mini-tree:
Hopefully blogger has relented and will allow me to comment this morning.
ReplyDeleteI love all three of your thoughts - but would lean towards the finger limes. Which is greed talking.
Yes, I really want a finger lime though it's probably not the most sensible choice
Deleteshould I ditch the comments with replies? was it easier when I had the long string of comments?
DeleteI would want the finger limes. I am only planting trees that produce something edible now.
ReplyDeleteThere are probably other food trees that would produce more food, finger lime is mostly a garnish but they are so pretty!
DeleteCan't help you. We don't have any of those trees here!!!
ReplyDeleteHaha, well I'm in a temperate zone and you most certainly are not so I pprobably don't know a single plant that you know!
DeleteI also vote for the Finger Lime as it looks so pretty and can be useful.

I think the finger lime will win!
DeleteWe do not have finger lime here but, bottle brush and frangipani are quite common. We have two of the latter in our garden and I love the flowers.
ReplyDeleteI have a pink flowering frangipani, grown from a cutting we took many years ago. It's looking really good right now with new leaves.
DeleteSomehow, I never imagined I would ever say I had trees I planted 20 years ago but we've been here 25 years now
It's been years since I've been around frangipani, how lovely it is. Thanks for the memory and your to do list. I should make my own. Should being such a nothing word. *smile*

"should" pffffft
DeleteThe bottle brush looks lovely. It's not a tree I've ever seen here.
ReplyDeleteBottlebrush is widely used as a street tree. They can be subtle or showy, depending on the variety
DeleteMost people want to plant in the spring, but that is not the best season for planting. Fall is best as you know. I vote for the finger lime, something I have never heard of before.
ReplyDeleteFinger limes are native to an area several hundred km north of me and have only recently been cultivated so I haven't seen them before
DeleteI also vote for the finger lime.
ReplyDeleteIt would look pretty in my no-alcohol gin and tonics :)
DeleteI know this feeling of wanting it all for my little patch of dirt where I can plant flowers. There is too much choice!
ReplyDeleteyes! I have a great artistic appreciation of a mass planting but to actually comit to a single plant? why would i?
