My contract ended yesterday and on the same day, my request for redeployment resulted in being offered a role as an administration assistant in an aged care centre. It will be just 16 hours a week but full time in the first week while I'm being trained. I start next week so I have four days off to try getting my head around life.
With mum in hospital I wasn't going to be having a holiday but I'm a bit disappointed there's no time to catch my breath. I'm grateful to have a job but I just hoped for a break.
I toured the aged care place mum wants to go to today. It was ok but not amazing. They have a room available but mum's discharge from hospital is too distant and uncertain for us to accept the offer.
Everything feels sad and it's been raining all day. A friend of mine forgot we had a coffee date. My gut told me she would.
It does sound like you need a break Kylie, such a lot going on in your life. I hope you get one soon, but as you say, the work is helpful but putting your feet up for a while sounds like what you need.

I was thinking I just had to limp through to end of contract and it was a blow to be diving straight back in.
DeleteGrab the room at the aged care place, if your mum is happy with it. Once it goes, you might be struggling for a bit, before finding another satisfactory option.
ReplyDeleteI was tempted to do that but they actually won't do that. I think because of the payment structure
DeleteThat's good that you have a new job, but yes, after all the ups and downs of the last few weeks/months, you could have done with a break.
ReplyDeleteYesterday everything felt crushing.
DeleteSome days just seem like this and all we can do is keep putting one foot in front of the other. I found it also helped to do what you've done here, which is to share it with others who understand or simply listen. And do something just for you, a small pleasure that you can look back on at the end of the day and remember with happiness, to say to yourself, this was a bright spot. I was hoping you would get the break you needed and I'm sorry you didn't. Hopefully the new job won't be too taxing but a good distraction.
ReplyDeleteYesterday was a hard day but I'll claw my way back.
DeleteIm uncertain about the job but its my best option right now
