Now for the Rant......

Well, it's been interesting to see to see what you have to say before you know what I think! I was waiting to be told I'm sloppy for not quoting my source...and no-one told me :)

The blog is "no new shoes"

I have never celebrated lent and I can't say I'm going to start now but thought that my regular anti-consumption rant fitted nicely with the premise of lent. Correct me if I'm wrong but lent is about forgoing something as a reminder of Christ's sacrifice?

I have told you that I love fashion (one of the most wasteful and vacuous industries around) and I have lots of other hedonistic tendencies so I can't suggest that you give up your snacks or your golf(Brian) or your music (attenuator)

I can say that I hope that I live my everyday life in a spirit of mindful consumption.....for me everyday should encompass a tiny bit of lent.

Was that too preachy?

  1. I'm with you. I forgo a lot. Underwear and slips. I don't like bras either, but wear them so I'm not draggin the titties around. I also wear blue jean till they basically fall off and tee-shirts till they're a memory. How we doin' so far? Yup, I'm sure I'm attractin' a lot of male viewers! My goal! I always remember 1pic and the photo of his female friend's beautiful feet and manicure. I commented about them and he said getting that look wasn't very hard. I obviously laughed. Getting that look is like the last thing on my mind. I can't really be bothered. Life's too short. Obviously, I'm low maintenance!

    Love ya,

  3. Hey Kylie,

Just stopped by to say hello. I know I should say something profound / inspirational here. But I am overtired.

  6. Unless I'm very much mistaken, a slip is sort of a silk underdress. Is underdress even a word? The red line under it tells me blogger's spell check doesn't buy my explanation. Women wear them as nighties and stuff too, right? Am I even close? I was confident I know what I'm talking about but the more I think about the less confident I've become. If I'm wrong I'll blame it on my youthful lack of life experience or my senility, depending on how old I'm purporting I am today.

And Suzanne, you did get this males attention! lol

Kylie, thanks for your comment. I actually do feel better having written it down and put it out there. It's helped me make a little more sense of it.

Thanks also for the comment about the one-word titles. I tried to go for something simple and clean and not too wordy. And it just feels right.

A quick google search just told me there are about 995,112 words in the English language and some simple arithmetic tells me I can write a unique, one-word title for my posts (assuming one post a day) for the next 2,724 years! I don't think I'll get that far...

  8. Kylie, your blog's too funny today and no, I'm not going to get a shower until I get back from feeding the ferals.

Muser. Glad I got your attention. I've visited, but next time will actually leave a comment! We both love tennis. You made me laugh. You think this is good, go to Kylies last post for the full complement!!! What a wonderful thing to laugh so early in the morning! Kylie has a way of bringing out the best in people.

Oxford American Disctionary gives little mention to a slip (the fabric kind), just indicates it's a petticoat. What?! Women haven't worn petticoats since the 1800's.,,,,,,,,,,nmnx

Maestro just stepped on the damn keyboard. He's a horrible typist. Obviously.

Lots of love to all and have a beautiful day, or night, depending on your local.

    XO Suzanne

  9. Yes, I do know how to spell compliment and it isn't spelled compement. I'm tired. That's my only excuse. I can't blame it on Maestro.

  11. Bindi, you know what, Serene is so much more important than a piece of fabric, a bra, panties, a slip, blue jeans or a tee-shirt. Thank God for moms like you. I absolutely adore mom's who love their kids. And of course...I love you.

  13. I'n trying to type over Ohno. He thinks the computer is an amazing thing. It's so funny I can't stop laughing. How do animals know stupid stuff? Okay, he's laying on my hands. This is going to be a challenge. Okay, I've typed that sentence like 5 times! It's hard with so much weight.

You know what's so funny? After the dunk in the fish tank he grew to twice his size. I tell him every day it was the fish water! He's almost 7 pounds. Oh my goodness. Now he has to have his pom-poms taken care of. Oh well. Life is life.

    Love you sweetie!

    XO Suzanne
