Dessert

YAY I finally got this photo to post!!!!!
It's only taken about 10 tries, yes, T-E-N, I'm pretty sure.
It's now way past my bedtime and I have to be up at five and .....well, it's just a disaster but once I had decided to post I was gonna, come hell or highwater.

Excuse the tantrum, I'll just try to compose myself.....................
I thought I'd show you this view of tonights dessert. It's Christmas pudding but it's too hot to eat that stuff at Christmas, that's why we had it today.
The eagle eyed will notice that I didn't tidy up for this shot, I kind of thought that since a shot of a saucepan, including pea and carrot, went down well I'd stick with the whole domestic reality thing. See the vegetable peeler? I spent ages looking for that a couple of days ago, silly of me not to look in the middle of the dining table, really. I mean why would it be in the utensil drawer?
And look how I've trained the young 'uns to put knife and fork together properly. They'll go far :)

  3. Kylie,
    That just goes to show that persistence pays off in the end.
    The fruit cake looks delicious :)

    I suspect that you were up at 5am for the ANZAC Day Dawn Service??

    I am awake at 6am and watching the dawn service from Gallipoli.

    The local RSL formed up at 5.45am; so I've missed that!

  5. bindi,
    it is nearly the same as Christmas cake. i still cant figure out why we have the same thing in two different ways....if you add fruit mince pies that makes dried fruit three ways!

  7. @kylie,
    Did you have a tot of rum with your breakfast?

    BTW: This year is the first time in a few years that we haven't attended a Dawn Service.
    When Helen was in Girl Guides, we would go to the local RSL and Helen would help carry the Banner
    and then she would go to the City and with other Guides help carry the various regimental banners in the Anzac Day Parade. Helen would walk one way and then be bussed back to the beginning to start again.Some years, this meant Helen was walking the full length of the parade up to three times.

Okay, I'm going to have to go away and come back later when I'm composed. Cuz right now I'm just bustin' a gut! You guys are killin' be today. STOP! And then Mark, with his comments. Please! And then I just see poor Helen walking in a loop. Okay, I'm leaving right now.

  9. Ok, Carol and I need your support again. This time it is our Dad. I just got off the phone with my sister, and apparently my Dad had a Transfusion reaction to some blood products he received today. He coded. They were able to recessitate him, but he is in ICC. He is able to talk and he told them that if he codes again he does not want to be recessitated. I am waiting for Harvey to come home and stay with the boys, and then I am going to go to the hospital. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I need you guys to support me. I think I need to take that Nature Walk again, because my troubles just reappeared. And Kylie's Dad, I need your words from earlier again.

  13. @suzanne,
    I asked kylie about the rum because it is traditionally served on Anzac day at breakfast after the dawn service.
    It was customary for Aussie diggers about to go into battle to have a shot of rum in their coffee.
    But you probably knew that already :)

  18. For Cecile,
    Unto Thee will I cry,
    Shepherd, hear my prayer!
    Poor and needy am I,
    Sherherd hear my praye!
    Deep is calling unto deep,
    Rugged are the heights and steep;
    Guide my steps and keep;
    Hear, O hear my prayer!
    Hear O hear my prayer!

    Where the tempest is loud,
    Shepherd hear my prayer!
    'Mid the darkness and cloud,
    Shepherd hear my prayer!
    Let me hear Thy voice afar,
    Coming with the morning star;
    True Thy mercies are!
    Hear O hear my prayer!
    Hear O hear my prayer!

    Let the foe not prevail,
    Shepherd hear my prayer!
    My resources would fail,
    Shepherd hear my prayer!
    Order all my steps aright,
    Carry me from height to height;
    Yonder shines the light!
    Shepherd lead me there!
    Lead me safely there!

    Song 641 in TSA Song Book

    Cecile these words have been a great blessing to me over the years.
    God Bless you and yours.

  19. morning kylie,
    I have just been checking in on Cecile's dad and the fires at Gig's place. They are doing ok at the moment.(Cecile and Gig i mean!) I like how you are going to the dawn service and supporting your family (including the diggers). I have been spending a lot of time at the computer and ignoring boring stuff like chores etc.

  21. What I love is my wacky, swear word infused comment to Peter, juxaposed with Dad's elegant, calm, thoughtful comment to Cece right after. Life is so perfectly beautiful. I'm going to try to be better. I'm turning over a new leaf. Okay, tomorrow. No, seriously. I'm going to start using the dictionary more often and stop being a slacker.

    Hey Dad. That's a promise. I'll stop embarrassing you.

    XO

    P.S. Dad, go to my blog. Olga The Traveling Bra showed up. She's a hoot! Oh, and what are you making for the Dessert Carnival? The deadline is just around the corner and there's no time to waste.

  22. Thank you, Dad. That is truly a beautiful song. They have moved my dad out of CCU. They are going to run a butt load of tests on him to A. try and figure out why he is anemic. and B. To try and figure out why he reacted so severely to the blood transfusion. So, I don't think he will be going back home to Missouri for awhile, he already in misery here! LOL yeah my bad attempt at humor here. But then again, if you don't laugh, then life isn't joyful is it. Our family actually feels pretty lucky, because he was dead yesterday for about 2 minutes and now is us talking and laughing and giving hugs and pats like the tough old bird I have always known. I don't know maybe God was trying to show me that he really is around and that he does perform miracles. I think I may be getting a little bit of my faith back. I thank all of you for the support. Now, I must find my bed before I collapse from exhaustion here on the keyboard and send some crazy sleep text likekasdjfkldjfklsdjfkldjflksdjflsdkfjkl. TOO late. SNORE...SAW LOGS. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. What's that Suzanne? Wake up? Oh come on Mom, just 5 more minutes. I don't want to go to school. It's Saturday. (well almost.)
