YES YES YES
thank you

I feel a bit like a poser, getting on the Obama bandwagon after he wins....

America is so far away and I had no power to influence the election so my interest was a passing one. Sure, it would be good to see a black President, certainly I would like to see the Democrats in power but I often doubt the power of one individual, even if that individual is the President of the United States, to effect any worthwhile change.
Suddenly, today, it mattered. Suddenly, it was important.

When Barack Obama became the President elect today I was reassured that good can prevail. I wasn't thinking of Obama's win over McCain, I was thinking of the way that the American people not only considered but embraced a black President.

I have no idea what Obama promises. Or whether he can deliver. What I do know is that what once was impossible is now reality.

Thanks and praise be to God.

Thanks for promises fulfilled.
Thanks for hope.
Thanks for change in the hearts and minds of the American people.

  5. Hi Kylie,

Although Obama wasn't my personal choice for president, I have to say that I am impressed by your enthusiasm on our behalf. I have often wondered what other countries thought of U.S. politics and how much information is available in other countries.

I know that many of our close knit group are excited to see Obama win and for that, I am happy. I agree that it is difficult for one person to make such a big difference in the world, but the way things have been going as of late, I think things can only get better.

Come January, the world will be watching. I am hoping for a good show.

  9. hi bri,
dont be too impressed, as i said i wasnt too concerned until the very last minute, just the kind of supporter no-one needs :)

i have heard it said that the world wanted obama to win more than america did, exactly why i'm not sure.
i think we are pretty well informed here if we want to be and even if we dont want to US politics are always in the news and pretty unavoidable

i'm know you dont normally talk politics so thanks for entering the fray!
