more food porn....

On a recent trip to the city Liam & I noticed the Guylian Chocolate Cafe. It looked sophisticated but unthreatening and oh so European and we put it on our must visit list. A few weeks later, on a wet & grey Sunday afternoon we decided to go investigate.

The funereal sky and sea made the quayside walk interestingly different to the stereotypical sunshiney day and the people watching was, as usual, rich and varied as we made our way to our dreamed of afternoon refreshments.

The degustation platter accompanied by dark hot chocolate seemed the obvious choice

It was truly decadent. The cakes were exquisitely detailed with gold leaf and other intricate morsels of patisserie magic, the hot chocolate was rich, the surroundings elegant. We soon found ourselves all chocolated out.

As we left to wander back to the train the sun had come out, the harbour was twinkling and the city was fresh.

That first taste had us hooked so yesterday we took the others with us and delighted as they, in turn, took their first bites at the irresistible Guylian cherry.

  3. An actual Guylian cafe, wonderful! I've seen the Guylian seashell chocolates often enough, but cafes we have none. I never noticed the Guylian cafe when I was in Sydney last December, rats!
