Poem 33

Angry, grumpy folk

make me want to hide away.

Get a grip you child

    Grace Time.

Today the unregenerate are becoming more arrogant in their apostasy, taking their lead from Richard Dawkins, who advised his fans, 'Be contemptuous with religious people.'

Even in my twenties I recognised the mystery of iniquity and the depth of Saint Paul's grasp of human evil. But the New Atheists are angry, grumpy, self-deceived people. There is a point where we will have to withdraw from them.

    1. I often blame trauma for bad behaviour but I'm tired of other people's trauma being unloaded onto me, either through rage or through other types of agitation

  2. I do not meet a lot of people with trauma injury, though there must be many in Scotland. Anti-social behaviour in Britain is permitted as never before, from late-night parties to pavement cyclists speeding at 4 MPH. Alcohol and drug abuse are rife.

When I suggested withdrawing from people I was thinking of those who show contempt for Christianity, contempt for Christ. They refuse to see any connection between family breakdown and the collapse of faith. They love to see a churches closing.

Today I discovered a really good blog: Afterall.net.
One post in particular ... *Paul Dixon on Stalin's Five Year Plan of Atheism.

*In 1932 Stalin's Society of Militant Atheists said, 'Not a single house of prayer shall remain ... the very concept of God must be banished from the Soviet Union.'

How can I have discourse with people who want the same thing here?
The tragic thing is that they are often kind, neighbourly, decent people.

The gangsters and thugs have never heard of Richard Dawkins, but they need to know they will go to Hell unless they repent.

  3. I meant the pavements cyclists who speed at 40 MPH. I tolerate those who go slowly.

  4. I really, really dislike confrontation - but have learned to stand up if I think I must. And yes, I would like to hide from angry and grumpy people too. I often 'meet' them on the crisis line and have learned that they often have reasons. Good reasons. To them. If they can live it, I can listen, painful as it is. And it is much less painful for me to hear than it is for them to live through.

    1. Yes, there's always a reason but that doesn't make it easy for anyone

  5. They just make me want to ignore them.

    1. I ignore them on the outside, inside not so much
