This reminds me of Loretta Lynn singing In The Garden (YouTube). *And He walks with me, and He Talks with me, and He tells me I am his own.*
It was the Father with whom Jesus walked and talked. Jesus alone can say, *No one comes to the Father, except through me.* John 14:6 The best response to all those who are pushing the One World Religion.
I have an evangelical sermon by Martyn Lloyd-Jones on CD. The Doctor ends with the words, *Come out of your sins and get into Christ.* I can still hear the Welsh intonation of his voice.
I told a friend of mine that I really don't like the word sin. It sounds so judgey and condescending. He told me to substitute selfishness. It works for me
Selfishness does not cover sin, though people become selfish because they are sinners and are too proud to repent.
The universality of sin is the one Christian doctrine that does not depend on faith. Even the godless can see that the world is badly wrong.
Judgey? The whole world is under God's judgment. God has set a day to judge the world and everyone in it. Acts 17:31
Condescending? Jesus is the one who condescended, becoming sin for us on Calvary.
I often listen to the hymn *I See the Blood*. Hear it on YouTube, sung by Florence Ambayo Wandabwa. If the whole world did not lie in sin, what did Jesus die for?
Jesus told his own Apostles, *And you will perish too, unless you repent of your sins and turn to God.* Luke 13:3
Note, turn to God of the Bible, and not some *source* of our own invention, such as the goddess or Tarot cards or the chakra or astrology: all these are idolatry and self-worship.

John,
DeleteI'm sure our theology is very similar but our language is different. I believe that all sin is resulting from a focus on self
And we all need to go back to the source - whatever it might be for us.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what it would be like to spend 40 days at the source? I imagine I wouldn't be gaining much after a week
DeleteVery thought provoking
ReplyDeleteThank you Anne
