Carl and Edna

This past weekend, Briony and I took a little trip to Canberra to see Floriade. At Floriade there was a gnome painting competition only entrants didn't have to compete, they could just pay a fee to buy and paint a gnome.

This is how Carl and Edna were born.

Carl and Edna are such gaddabouts!

They visited the National Carillon

They visited the seat of Australian democracy (I think Edna is quite engaged with politics)

They took an afternoon stroll on the shore of Lake Burley Griffin

Edna didn't appreciate being photobombed at the National War Memorial

Carl and Edna took a moment away from their adoring fans at  the Mount Ainslie lookout

Being the kind of people they are, Carl and Edna are at the forefront of the trend for couples to live separately. Carl was happy to get  home to his pets and Edna her garden.

They both feel a bit too fragile to travel again but they aren't ruling it out......

  1. The Mount Ainslie Lookout puts human (and gnome) size in proportion.

  2. Big smiles. You all seem to have made the most of your time in my city. Did you enjoy Floriade? And were you tempted to stop in a Tulip Top Gardens?

    1. We love, love, loved Floriade and discussed the merits of Canberra as a place to live.
I do want to go to Tulip Tops but it would have been too much for this trip. I will get there!

  4. Je adore Carl and Edna and what adventures they had. We saw Floriade about a decade ago and it was great, though rather commercial, which it may be more so now.

    1. I've never been before. I didn't find it overly commercial, there were shops but I thought they were well curated.

  5. If "Edna is quite engaged with politics" how come her eyes are always closed? Maybe it's boredom.

    1. Edna said you are a bit forward saying hallo like that without a proper introduction but she'll make an exception for a socialist
