This past weekend, Briony and I took a little trip to Canberra to see Floriade. At Floriade there was a gnome painting competition only entrants didn't have to compete, they could just pay a fee to buy and paint a gnome.
This is how Carl and Edna were born.
Carl and Edna are such gaddabouts!
They visited the National Carillon
Being the kind of people they are, Carl and Edna are at the forefront of the trend for couples to live separately. Carl was happy to get home to his pets and Edna her garden.
They both feel a bit too fragile to travel again but they aren't ruling it out......
The Mount Ainslie Lookout puts human (and gnome) size in proportion.
ReplyDeleteWe are just specks in the cosmos, aren't we?
DeleteBig smiles. You all seem to have made the most of your time in my city. Did you enjoy Floriade? And were you tempted to stop in a Tulip Top Gardens?
ReplyDeleteWe love, love, loved Floriade and discussed the merits of Canberra as a place to live.
DeleteI do want to go to Tulip Tops but it would have been too much for this trip. I will get there!
Thanks for a great travel documentary for the two. Loved picture story and text story. Thanks for taking them on an adventure. I think I need a gnome.
ReplyDeleteYou definitely could use a gnome!
DeleteJe adore Carl and Edna and what adventures they had. We saw Floriade about a decade ago and it was great, though rather commercial, which it may be more so now.
ReplyDeleteI've never been before. I didn't find it overly commercial, there were shops but I thought they were well curated.
DeleteIf "Edna is quite engaged with politics" how come her eyes are always closed? Maybe it's boredom.
ReplyDeleteshe wanted to visit parliament house so I guess she is interested in politics but she may not want to see the politicians! Have you seen those guys?
DeleteThese two are wonderful, you gave me a big grin today just enjoying their adventures.!

We had an awful lot of fun with it :)
DeleteGood story on the adventures of Carl and Edna. You have fun with these two.
ReplyDeleteThanks Red. The idea could be a lot more developed, we'll see what happens
DeleteI love this post. It made me smile from beginning to end. Glad they had a nice trip and it was so kind of y'all to chaperone them!
ReplyDeleteI've never officially chaperoned anybody before :)
DeleteIt's good to see a positive, interesting and happy post. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThanks Graham. I can be a bit nutty when an idea grabs me
DeleteSay hallo to Carl and Edna for me. They certainly get around!
ReplyDeleteEdna said you are a bit forward saying hallo like that without a proper introduction but she'll make an exception for a socialist
DeleteThat's very good of her. Vive la revolution!
DeletePopped over from Elephant's Child, I love Carl and Edna, they had a wonderful time visiting all those places.
ReplyDeleteIt's great to have you here, River! Carl had a ball and even serious Edna could be seen to crack a smile
DeleteI too have popped over from Elephant Child's blog.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love Carl and Edna, such a great post.
All the best Jan
