A meander through Eva Burrows College

I was walking past the memorial garden at work this week, the roses were looking lovely and I thought again how pleasant it is to work on a beautiful campus. The photo doesn't do justice to the roses (tiny blobs of colour on the left) but it's a good representation of the memorial garden.

This is the view from my office. I watch the kids going to school, the young mums pushing prams and the dog walkers all go past. Some days there are kookburras swooping for insects. The house in the background hasn't changed since I was a child.

This is the view from the dining room which is rarely used these days but is my domain. When Keaghan was newly engaged and looking for a wedding venue I tried to point out the possibilities in this place. It's not fancy but it's relaxed and spacious and  very, very reasonably priced. I'm sure it would look fabulous with some nice table cloths and flowers.
Of course, as a newly engaged young woman I wouldn't have seen this as a possible wedding venue, I didn't have the imagination to do anything different to the standard reception hall or restaurant so I can't blame the young couple.

The building you can see across the grass is part of the hostel accomodation on site. I think it would be a delightful place to live. It's also not fancy but it's well maintained, clean and quiet. The pest control man we had in recently said he loves coming to this site because it's like a sactuary. I don't think you get a better compliment than that.

I should add, I was walking through the dining room this week and saw a man in hi-vis sitting at this table. i didn't recognise him and wondered who he was. Then I noticed his motor bike. The postie was having a cheeky lunch here!

    1. I've worked in a lot of ugly factories and I never minded them but it means I probably appreciate this place in a different way to most of my colleagues

  3. A sanctuary is a truly wonderful compliment. And it looks as if the pest control person was completely truthful.

  5. Given your Tuesday post (Nov 6th) it's nice to have a place of work that is so peaceful. I hope that those family issues you referred to can be soothed.

  6. I can see why people enjoy this place you work. Green of nature is soothing. That is why TV shows rooms where guests wait are called the "green room." Before my swing collapsed, I loved to sit in it facing the green of my yard.

I hope you can get another swing

  7. What a lovely place to work. And yes, that enormous lawn would be ideal for a wedding reception.

  8. That is a lovely workplace! It reminds me of the campus of the university I attended. The extensive green spaces are what made my decision for me when I was applying after high school. Not their academic reputation, but their grass and trees :)
