Last year I really enjoyed the Christmas card swap organised by Anne at Cooking and All that Jazz.
She is running it again this year but I was late to the party so no swapsies for me. Instead, I'll send one to you if you email me with your address!

I stopped sending cards probably ten years ago but I realised it's a lovely thing to do, much warmer than an email/ text or worst of all, a one size fits all facebook post
DeleteI think that I better not request for a card from you. By the time it would reach me it would be 2019! No, I personally do not have any tradition of exchanging cards. I call people up to wish them on special days like birthdays / anniversaries etc. WhatsApp and Facebook now also acts as media to exchange greetings though I prefer not to use them either.

ReplyDeleteYour memory posts have me thinking of my father again. At one time he expressed the wish to become the first Jewish Pope. From that time on ALL of his cards were addressed to Pope Dick.
I didnt want you to feel obliged so I forgot the whole address protocol!

I love sending Christmas Cards. In addition to addressing about 250 letters from Santa (fundraiser) the past couple of days, I have addressed all of our cards as well as a few to blogging friends. I am headed to the post office in the morning to stick them in the mail. One of my traditions is to not buy traditional Christmas stamps. I tend to buy flag stamps because the post office never runs out of them and the envelops are discarded immediately anyway! (I will admit I bought a few traditional Christmas ones for the card exchange though)

I would have attempted to find an "Aussie" card to carry the message: maybe one with a kangaroo or a surfing Santa
I only send Christmas cards to immediate relatives. Sending cards to everyone I know would be a mammoth task! No special card traditions, apart from the obvious one of sending charity cards - it was Oxfam this year (despite all the bad publicity).

DeleteApart from a few I do not send cards to people I see on an everyday basis. I used to send about 150 Christmas cards but now it's down to about 80. I like to write a bit more than a simple message but sometimes that has to suffice. I keep in touch with many friends on a regular and fairly frequent basis by snail mail rather than or as well as emails and WhatsApp etc. I think it's more 'personal'.

DeleteI got a card from you too (I was tickled to see Santa in a bathing suit). And from Jane too by the way. I also got a long, long letter from somebody in the US telling me all about their daughter's wedding and how the other kids were doing at school and so on and I have NO idea who this person is, so I reckon it might be someone on Anne's list. I like sending cards but I rather guiltily admit I haven't sent mine yet. Too much to do before I retire!
