Fun & Games

Does anyone remember the days when every man and his dog was playing (facebook game) Farmville? What a sensation that was. Or to go even further back, Bejewelled? I didn't play Farmville but I loved Bejewelled. It's still around but with another name......

A little while back I started playing an interior design game. It's a lot of fun experimenting with different looks but not having to spend any money or do any work. In order to get "money" to spend in the game, I vote on other people's designs.

I vote for or against a design for any reason that takes my fancy:

  • I love or hate the design
  • I think it does or doesn't fit the brief
  • I hate the colours
  • The artwork used doesn't fit the theme of the room
  • The designer has used an element very creatively
  • It's sophisticated
  • It's pretty
  • I can see the designer is new to the game and did well with a limited inventory
After playing the game for a little while I found that there is a facebook group where people discuss how to design better whine about not winning.
I found out that this interior design game is a VERY. SERIOUS. BUSINESS.

Voting against a room because all white upholstery would be a real life nightmare is, apparently, JUST. NOT. ON.

Small things.....small minds......mine included :)

  1. Wow, it's also interesting to try the interior design visual game ..., I'm curious to try it to redesign my bedroom.

The final images of your simulation look beautiful.

    1. Welcome Himawan!
It's not great for redesigning because you can't put your own room in. I wish you could!
I like those last ones, too. Thank you

  2. I am a Facebook Luddite, no idea about Farmville or Bejewelled...
However I did engage with the interior design photos, you're not the only small mind, and found it a bit of fun..
I loathe those bed surrounds but I don't think it could be removed in the photo.
Hope everything in your world is going as well as possible Kylie

    1. It's impossible to remove (or indeed, add) elements but it's fun to play with colours.
I'm really good alphie but I feel like it's in bad taste to say so!

    2. Good to hear that Kylie. Never mind bad taste -I'm always in favour of an honest answer :-)

  3. No FB for me. White upholstery? An instant fail. Even without pets I am a klutz all on my own and it would remain white for nanoseconds. If that.
Interior design is yet another thing which makes me feel inadequate - despite knowing that those perfect interiors would neither last here, nor suit our eclectic (cluttered) taste.

    1. The good thing about design as a game is you don't have to live with mistakes ☺️
My taste is for clean lines but not "minimalism". What I actually achieve is clutter but I call it bohemian

  4. That looks very different and interesting. Who designed those rooms?

    1. It is interesting! I'm kind of a colour junkie so it's a chance to play.
All the rooms are set up in the game and the choices of colour and finish are mine

    1. Yes, the feeling of ownership probably leads people to spend actual money, too

  6. I ‘loved’ bejewelled but lost it when someone updated the PC. I tried loading it (or similar) onto my iPad but it’s not the same. Need that mouse to control the ‘gun’......So I’ll stick to Freecell if I want to waste time....online jigsaws are a time waste4 as well :)

  7. I'm a fan of small space design, though I must say I did a remarkable job on my own combo office/bedroom. Very efficient and colourful space, though untidy. I'm highly visual so need everything out where I can see it.

    1. I have everything where I can see it just because I hate putting things away!
I remember you saying you were very happy with your bedroom, it helps when we have to spend so much time at home :)

    1. I played words with friends for a bit but I hated waiting for the other person to get around to their turn. I've played a lot of Scrabble as a board game

  9. Well that looks fun! I'd still play Angry Birds given half a chance.
If only white upholstery was self cleaning.

    2. You can still download it - there are a variety of versions - BUT.... I wasted so many hours. Now I waste my hours doing something else entirely.

  10. I have never had a Facebook account and have no intentions of ever acquiring one. However, this game looks like it might be fun.

    1. This one isn't a facebook game, it's an app but you still can't play without a smart phone or maybe an ipad :)
You'll be surprised what grandchildren will do, my kids even have my mum using instagram!

  11. I've never come across that game, but I'm intrigued that people can take it so seriously, to the extent of being sore because they lost out. Jenny and I have a lot of fun choosing new curtains and furnishings for the house but that's as far as we go.

Jenny was very keen on Sim City at one stage and got totally addicted to it until the attraction gradually wore off.
