I got home from work yesterday and Sally had developed quite a case of head tilt while I was out. many years ago our dear boi Taffy had a stroke and a bit of head tilt quickly developed to his head turning so far around, his body followed in a staggering, unending fight to stay upright. It was awfully distressing so I was keen to get Sally to the vet as fast as my gammy legs would take us.
As it turned out, as fast as possible was limited by the availability of appointments and by this morning Sally seemd to be as perfect as a 14 year olf floof can be.
I took her to the vet anyway. The vet nurse was delighted to notice she is a "pirate" and the vet said I was doing a great job of keeping her at the perfect weight.
She has an ear infection and the other ear looks like it could go the same way.
So, 10 mins, a bottle of drops and $170 and we are back on track.
For a moment there I thought I might have to decide whether to persevere or say goodbye and I'm so glad that decision is for another day.

What is the average life expectancy of your dog? 14 years sounds quite good, depending on the breed.
ReplyDeleteSmall dogs are longer lived but 14 is a pretty good innings.
DeleteI have heard of small dogs living to 19 and right now I think she has chance at a few more years
Sally looks like my Sid! I still miss him, he was taken far too soon. I hope Sally lives on for as long as possible - she has a terrific owner.
