Easter Day

This is a tibouchina in our front yard, Sydney is resplendent with them at this time of year.
I associate them with Easter, so my Easter can last a good couple of months, the chocolate eggs are rather shorter lived !
The fantastic purple is a wonderful colour, I couldn't possibly pick a favourite colour but this would be close and it reminds me of some great people who love purple along with me.
So....
there's lots of good stuff encapsulated in this shot: good friends, lovely autumn days, the beauty of a terrific tree and the promise of Easter, life in all it's fullness.

  1. I love this bush, purple is one of my favorite colors!! Reminds me of Lilacs and Spring. Thanks for sharing.

I am not sure just who will be here for Easter dinner. But, I know I will have enough food for an army, LOL.

Enjoy your Autumn as I await Spring and Summer!!Wahoo...

    Hugs and Love,
    Gig

  3. Suz and Kylie,

I do know about that porn movie. However it was far from my thoughts at the time I wrote about Kylie's name. The Deep Throat was a person who informed Bob Woodward and Bernstein of the goings on in Watergate, and are co authors of "All the President's Men" their definitive story of Watergate.

    John.

    My beloved Bombers vs Kangaroos.
The Bombers are winning by 25 points, 17 minutes into the third quarter! :)
    Cheers & beers,

  5. Kylie,
A rhetorical question - If a blogger leaves a comment on one's blog does one reply on one's blog or at the other's blog?
I'm not sure what the etiquette is with that one.

  6. Dear Dad,

I know. And I'm also aware it was far from your thoughts (or at least anticipated it was!), but Woodward and Bernstein used the term for a reason. Okay, let's just sweep it under the carpet and think only of purple! Purple, purple, purple. Nice chatting with you, but I often forget this is actually Kylie's blog. Get your own buddy! No seriously...have you given it a thought?! :)

Kylie, that tree/shrub is so gorgeous. I enlarged it to get a better look and was trying to figure out what the blossoms remind me of. Sort of cross between a Hybiscus, a Rose of Sharon and an Oleander. I want one! It looks really hardy. I've never seen it in the States. Hummmmm, perhaps I should open an import company. I'm going to Google it and see what I come up with. And it blooms in the Fall. What a keeper. Happy Fall and Happy Purple! Does it come in any other colors?

    Love you darlin'
    XO Suze

  8. g'day gig,
i saw at marks place that you weren't sleeping too well, that's too bad but on the bright side it is bonus blogging time :)

    dad,
you shock me, fancy you knowing about porn movies!!! i guess you weren't ALWAYS talking technical stuff at work then,eh?

    bomber,
you made me laugh with your rhetorical question. i guess the etiquette is that you reply where the comment was made but i do all sorts of weird things depending on what seems appropriate at the time. or forget appropriateness, i do things like read a comment, decide to comment later then when i happen to be visiting your blog i decide to answer after all and too bad about it being in the wrong place. i guess i'm impulsive :) and even tho that question was rhetorical i had to answer....i'm a nut

    suze,
i'm thinking that maybe the tibouchina wouldn't survive in some parts of the US. i'm not sure. there is a less common pinkk variety. absolutely GORGEOUS. the flower is a little less cup shaped and the petals are a little more pointed. it's like a beautiful pink star. you can also get a miniature version of the purple, just the same only two feet tall :)

    bindi,
i'm glad you got time for a sneak peek. hope no-one is too sick?
yes, Tibet is a bit of a concern and it seems like the current trouble may not be resolved too quickly.

    love to all of you
    k
