I'm a bit short of words this week so just have a look at some more pics while I think of something to say

This one is a favourite of mine, the purple is so rich and has the added bonus of reminding me of some purple loving friends.......

It also reminds me of a funny saying of my brother's : "Purple is the colour of sexual frustration"

Make of that what you will !

The Winter Garden

I'm really enjoying the late winter garden
Pretty much everything is in flower

Take a look

This one (above) looks better if you enlarge it

Below is a close up of the one above. I love the delicacy of this one.

Easter Day

This is a tibouchina in our front yard, Sydney is resplendent with them at this time of year.
I associate them with Easter, so my Easter can last a good couple of months, the chocolate eggs are rather shorter lived !
The fantastic purple is a wonderful colour, I couldn't possibly pick a favourite colour but this would be close and it reminds me of some great people who love purple along with me.
So....
there's lots of good stuff encapsulated in this shot: good friends, lovely autumn days, the beauty of a terrific tree and the promise of Easter, life in all it's fullness.

My babble .......and "Babel"

I love film but for various reasons I don't get to see as much as I'd like to, so if I'm shockingly out of date by saying I watched "Babel" last night, so be it.
(it was a Golden Globe winner, features Cate Blanchett, Brad Pitt &Gabriel Garcia Bernal)
It's a brilliant film. Terribly depressing but outstanding. It begins by showing snippets of four stories and as the film progresses we learn that the stories are interconnected. I like that structure, I also liked that the stories themselves and the factors linking them were all totally plausible. I liked that each character spoke his or her own language, (so parts were subtitled) It captured atmosphere beautifully. And I liked Brad Pitt.
I didn't like that it was a story, four stories actually, of pain and tragedy, stories with difficult endings or no endings at all.
I guess the reason why I didn't like it was the same reason I did. (aren't we all full of contradictions?) It's totally true to life.
Don't see it if you are having a bad day, like nice neat closures or want a happy ending.
Do see it if you want to be challenged and engaged, if you like a clever storyline or exotic locations. Or if you like Brad Pitt :)

OOLF: when I wrote my post "Blessings from a Garden" I forgot the flowering Gum out the front.....she's gorgeous.

Blessings from a Garden

Last time we met I said that I couldn't have a garden restricted to white flowers. I decided to list some of the things I would miss if the colour was taken out of our garden.

  • The gorgeous deep purple of the "mini Ha Ha" flowers in spring.
  • The pink and yellow flowering grevilleas.
  • The raucous chatter and clowning of the lorikeets that come to feed on them
  • and their stunning colours.
  • The lovely piping call of the rosellas that also feed on them.
  • The beautifully subtle colour variations of the gold, purple and cream freesias
  • their fantastic perfume.
  • The wonderful purple flowering tibouchina at Easter time
  • The amazing Chameleon Rose. It starts out yellow, gets a pink edge on the petal as it opens and then the yellow fades so the flower ends it's life a soft pink and white. Three flowers in one!

Back to Biscuit Crumbs

Before I got distracted by boob pencil I was wondering how I could use the biscuit-crumbs-in-bed idea.
One of my quirks is a pathological love of coffee and I wondered about using that. Nah, just doesn't seem right.

Then I started on some other ideas:

  • What I'm wearing. Now that could be fun, lots of opportunity for a self-send-up.
  • What I'm cooking. Ditto.
  • Lipstick colour for the day. Potential there.
  • Hairstyle of the day. Hmmm.

I remember once seeing a garden on TV. A major design feature was that the garden was to have only green foliage and only white flowers. It was a beautiful garden, elegant, but I knew that I could never have a garden like that. (Don't think I'm a gardener, but even if I was....)

I couldn't have a garden like that because I wouldn't be able to limit myself to white flowers when there are so many gorgeous creations in other colours.

I think I'm the same with this biscuit-crumbs-in-bed idea. How can I be limited to one idea when there is so much useless information I could enhance your life with?

As of today I will endeavour to put an out-of-left-field comment on my posts. Just for the heck of it.

OOLF: I did a sudoku last night, first in ages. now I remember why I stopped...they're addictive.
