and some more......

Leah asked:
1. Were your birth experiences with your children good/traumatizing/a mix? Who was in attendance?
No 1 was a long and difficult labour, ending in epidural, cutting & stitching, largish blood loss and bruising that kept me from sitting comfortably for three weeks. So, yes, it was traumatic to my body but I never felt traumatised. My husband was there, a midwife, anaesthetist, obstetrician and paediatrician.
No 2 was in a birth centre, which means minimal intervention. It was unremarkable except that birth is always a miracle and Dimples' was no different. There was a midwife, hubby and me. And a group of students.
No 3 and twin 1 was also easy and unremarkable.
No 4 and twin 2 was badly positioned, the doc had to go in for her, turn and deliver in one movement. Even with an epidural it was distinctly uncomfortable and she didn't breathe unassisted for a couple of minutes but I was too busy coo-ing at her sister to notice until the drama was almost over.
Present were hubby, two paediatricians, anaesthetist, obstetrician, a midwife or two, student doctor and obstetrician.

I didn't particularly enjoy giving birth. I love the design of the process but don't appreciate it too well when in the midst of it. I did, however love the results and never felt traumatised.

I like this question, I should answer in more detail sometime......

2. What is your favorite outfit?
Something appropriate for the event, something I feel attractive in but nothing overtly sexy. I couldn't nominate just one outfit. I like clean colours and nice lines and I like nice accessories but they're not an obsession.

3. What is your earliest childhood memory?
I have a very vague memory of being at my uncle's place in New Zealand, wearing a jersey teal pants suit and falling down a couple of stairs. Mum confirms the existance of the suit and the stairs, she says we were there but doesn't remember the fall (I hope I have all that right! I wasn't even sure if it was a real memory or a dream) I was about two at the time ( thats another thing I'm not sure of, even though I've asked about it)

4. If you could go back to school and study something just for fun, no grades, no pressure, what would it be?

5. Have you ever felt the presence of God? Where were you?
Yes, mostly in church but sometimes in other places, most likely the car. I see God in people and sometimes I look back on an event and see God's presence although I didn't recognise it at the time. This is a huge question and I might come back to this one as well.

6. Is there any secret thing about you that you think would shock us if we knew (and no, you don't have to say what it is)

  1. bob! hi :)
    great to see you back

i'm having a ball with this question caper, good idea, you

    ask away if you want

  2. hey, my question was deleted?

    *mumbles about*

what do really think of suzanne?

  3. IV
i never , ever saw your question but i did expect you to ask it!

  4. I'm sorry I never got around to asking a question.

    Great answers!!

  5. This is a wonderful post. I actually read it when you put it up, and then didn't comment right away. Isn't it funny about the birthing memories--I remember wanting to tell my birth story over and over--that feeling subsided, but I still like to tell about it. I was glad to hear about yours.

    Thanks for answering my questions!
