This week a little inspiration came when I was asked if I could maybe create an activity apron for a lady with Alzheimers. Apparently the lady involved likes to wander through the rooms of her nursing home and fidget with everyone's property and the chaplain thought an activity apron might be a good distraction for her.
I pulled out an old apron and took the frilled bib off it, added a zip for therapeutic zip pulling, some velcro for a satisfying ripping noise to drive other residents nuts, a string of beads, a small plush toy, a tassle for plaiting and a piece of nylon cord for threading through buttonholes.
I was pleased to create something that was completely upcycled, everything I put on there was salvaged from around the house.
The plan was to take a photo but I was so keen to hand it over today that I forgot the picture. Oh well. Google images will give you the idea.
