Hobbled

I was driving home from work a couple of days ago, in pouring rain and on a major road. There was a slight hold up ahead, I couldn't see what it was but a couple of cars pulled into the other lane and suddenly I was behind the hold up. An older man was leaning in the door of his ute, pushing and steering at the same time, there was a trailer on the back, the rain was hosing and his jeans looked low on his frame. My car pushing days are over so I just followed for a little bit, hoping to at least give him a little protection. And as I followed there was no doubt about his jeans, lower and lower they went but he couldn't pull them up, he needed momentum and two hands.

I could see pretty much his entire bum before somebody jumped out of their vehicle to help.

It was a situation that could happen at any moment in time but on that day it just seemed to sum up the  misery of the pandemic experience.

  1. Sounds like something that happens to me. My skirt slid down at a live performance one time. Is this New Blogger? You've done a grand job.

    1. My mum tells a story about my grandmother walking out of a pair of underwear that just fell in the street one day. War time elastic!
It is new blogger I think. It's funny, it seemed to arrive late to me

    2. What did you do with the skirt?

  3. Well, you had the best seat in the house. He would have let those pants fall to his ankles before he quit pushing. Funny but not for him.

    1. I suspect they did fall to his ankles, they were well on the way. I just thought it was a miserable scene but probably a great story!

  4. Poor man. I am glad someone finally came to help.
The 'hobbled' image brought to mind an experience I had a few years ago. I was at a bus stop in town when an very agitated young man appeared. He had his trousers down by his ankles (it was clear he was a natural redhead) and was dancing in the road hurling abuse at supposed (and to me invisible) tormentors. I was particularly impressed that despite the position of his trousers he could swing kicks at people trying to get him off the road. A VERY big man appeared and gently walked over to him and talked. Both of them made it safely to the pavement again, and wandered off together. I still think kind thoughts about that big stranger.

    1. I'm not sure what I'm most impressed by: you noticing his natural hair colour, his obvious athleticism or the sense and kindness of the big guy 😂😂

Great story, in all respects. Thanks for telling it!

  5. Oh the poor fella.
Damned if he did - damned if he didn't. Push truck/ trousers drop - pull trousers up/ lose control of truck!
It was good to hear a friendly face appeared to put him out of his misery

  7. My heart goes out to the man. Glad someone did offer him some help at last. This is a good lesson for me to always wear nice underwear!

  8. Yes, this image does kind of sum up how most of us must feel! Poor man. *Makes note to wear a belt next time I go out*

  9. Poor guy, he had very little choice there. I'm glad someone helped him out. Winter rain is thoroughly miserable when you are out in it. Summer rain - not so bad.

  10. I'm surprised it took so long for someone else to give him a hand. Was everyone else speeding by, taking no notice of the ute?

    1. Quite a few did drive past but realistically they had to drive past before they could stop. It's remarkable how quickly help arrives in these situations so I'll give my fellow Sydneysiders the benefit of the doubt in this case

  11. Do Aussie women have no morals? Lustfully ogling a gentleman's rear end without restraint. What would your mother have thought of you Kylie?
