Patisserie Adventures

Briony is home for holidays and on Saturday we took a drive to a patisserie we have never been to before. It was a sunny day and the drive was pleasant. Parking was easy and the shop was just around the corner. I slurped water from a bubbler as we walked past. Remember bubblers? Most of you probably call them water fountains.......

The patisserie doesn't just make cakes, they have coffee and a line in toasted sandwiches. We ordered iced lattes and mine was made with oat milk, a first for me and very nice. We also shared a broccolini toastie and an eggplant parmagiana panini. Who thought of putting charred broccolini in a toastie? It was good.

After that we chose from an array of cakes and eventually settled on a masterpiece of chocolate, ginger blueberries, blueberry gel and candied citrus. It was spectacular.

Then we chose tarts to bring home for Caitlin. Dulce de leche with Burnt Butter and Fig & Raspberry.

This is the only photo I have, taken after I'd eaten half. Well, I didn't want to faff around with photos when there was a sandwich to try, did I?

  2. Different......The Golfer ‘loves’ a baked beans toasted sandwich. Does do the sandwich maker any good when they leak out the sides.

  6. A broccoli toastie, that sounds wonderful! Likewise the chocolate and berry cake.

Not many water fountains in these parts. I don't there are any even in the city centre.

  8. That looks delicious. What a nice outing. All the water fountains in most places have been turned off here in the US due to covid. Next time, bring something back for me...lol.

    1. I expected the water fountain to be turned off but it wasn't. What's your pick? something chocolate? fruity?

  11. I wish we were heading into summer and not winter. It's freezing here today. I love a good toastie but like mine filled with cheese and ham!

  12. A delightful culinary excursion. You must go there again some time even though the name "Saga Enmore" seems somewhat pretentious. They should changed it to Sheila's Tucker Shop or Bruce's Posh Cafe. Something like that.

    1. The "Enmiore" part is to differentiate it from the spin off shop "Saga Lyte" which covid put an end to.
I think it should have been called "The best cakes in the world, better than Bruce's"
