    Isaiah 9:6

Isaiah's prophecy (the first Gospel) is fulfilled now, in Jesus Christ our Lord, who came in the form of a servant; and will be fulfilled completely at Christ's Second Coming.

Without Jesus, all the Christmas trees and lighted stars mean nothing; all the feasts of the pagans anticipated Jesus' birth in a stable.
That is why Saint Patrick and Saint Columba were able to convert the Celts:
Jesus Christ had come to make all things new, and restore creation to its former glory.
And now missionaries from Africa are coming to reconvert us, because we have lost the faith and are in such spiritual darkness.

God told Abraham, *I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven ... and through your offspring all the nations of the earth shall be blessed.*
    Genesis 26:4

Paul writes, *The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and foretold the Gospel to Abraham, All nations will be blessed through you.*
    Galatians 3:8

*When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.*
    Romans 5:6

    1. That's a great question, isn't it? I don't think humanity's basic traits change a whole lot. When we are being selfish or unthinking we are probably not much different to those people.

We have a lot more information to work with when we try to be our best selves so I'd like to think we are more enlightened and can do better.

      What do you think?

    1. Thank you. I was thinking of how covid has upended our expectations of Christmas ( and life in g eneral) and trying to express how covid is a comparatively short lived situation

As a young woman chorister said: *Jesus gave up the glory of heaven, for you and me.*
We speak of this as the humiliation of Christ.
If we are sickened by the evil and injustice of the world, how did Jesus feel?

And yet so many people have turned their back on Jesus. And for what?
