Visitors

My second child and second son turned 21 yesterday. He wanted lasagna for dinner and I decided to make tiramisu for dessert (we had nearly all of the ingredients already courtesy of local dumpsters).
While I was involved in my culinary adventures, this blog was receiving a number of hits unprecedented since a wrote a post called "vore".
Visitors who have never before darkened the door of my corner of the internet came from Lancashire, Manchester, Norway, Kentucky, Florida and Gwynned.
I think it might be related to the fact I made some comments about our outspoken Ursula.
I wonder what all those curious bystanders found out about me?

Dinner was delicious, by the way and as tradition demands, we reminded Keaghan of the day of his birth, the day he was hatted with a singlet.
Brand new babies are better off without hats, but I didn't know that then. Hats diminish the free flow of the pheremones which promote bonding.

  1. A very happy birthday to your boy, and happy birthing day to you. Choosing the dinner seems to be a well established birthday practice...
It always fascinates me how people find my blog - and I usually never learn how (or why).

    1. I found your blog because you visited mine first, I think. You have a very extensive list of blogs you read.

    2. I do. And I learn so much from them. I have laughed with other bloggers, wept with and for them, and been educated by them. Finding the blogosphere felt like coming home.

  2. A happy birthday to your son. There was a site in Outer Mongolia that I visited. I thought "great, it's just me" but EC was there first. I wish I had that kind of energy. Blogging can be hard work, unfortunately. It just depends on how much you want to do. I only found out yesterday that Jerry Lewis had died. Legend.

    1. Jerry Lewis only died yesterday so you are right on time!
Never let blogging be work, it should be fun or you should take a step back

    2. Jerry Lewis died over the weekend, not on the 23rd.

  3. Cracking tiramisu in the picture. We have it here, but it doesn't look anything like that. If you made it then well done.

  4. Google won't let you down. It's like a pet dog you can throw a stick to and it never questions why. Even though you were throwing it to get rid of it.

  5. It's quite hard to make a really authentic tiramisu. You need all the right ingredients in all the right proportions. I've had some truly awful versions in supposedly upmarket restaurants. The best tiramisu I've ever had was at a restaurant called Il Diavolo in Florence.

    1. I'm not sure if I have ever had authentic tiramisu! My version was delicious and it did have coffee flavour unlike some.

  6. Good choice - a well executed lasagne truly is the food of the gods :-)

    1. The lasagna was a bit soft, apparently thats because we happened to use low fat milk. It was still delicious though.

  7. Happy Birthday to your son! His dinner request sounds delicious and the tiramisu, well, yum!
I wonder how people find my blog also, especially since it is rather dull.

    1. Thank you for the wishes, I'll pass them on. People who blog because it's sociable just enjoy the interaction and nothing is dull if one takes an active interest

  8. Oh, Kylie. You kept both your comments (and not for the first time) short, succinct and rational. The vultures, nay a lynch mob - you know, all those NICE people, unleashed themselves. Safety in numbers and all that. It's why the blogger in question took down one of his posts because his comment box was flooded with the inane. Where yours was a voice of reason hysteria was ripe. Speculation about me even riper, if overcooked. BiQ (Blogger in question) and I have since communicated (on his initiative) in the privacy of email. All is well - though I dare say I won't be gracing his blog again any time soon. I don't fear the call for being strung from the next tree (for what exactly?); I fear for those "nice" people. Other than that, yes, my stats went through the roof too. Need to update my "About me" - Boo to a goose will do.

Twenty one is mega. Happy Birthday to your son, congratulations to his mum without whom he wouldn't be here.

I don't have a particularly sweet tooth. Tiramisu? Make mine a double portion. Thanks. I'll bring the desert wine.

    1. Ursula,
i too, called it a lynch mob. The nice people aren't as nice as they think. The blogger in question does present himself as a whole person, warts and all. The niceness and sycophantism must be a burden at times.

      Dessert wine sounds great!

  9. My birthday wishes to your son and congratulations to you and him. In India, 21 used to be a very important milestone for my generation as then one could vote. It has now been brought down to 18!

    That photograph looks yummy!

    1. Ramana,
Voting age is now 18 here, as well but we still seem to have the tradition of celebrating the 21st. It's a bit silly because there is no real significance to 21 anymore.
